Podcasts & Books That I Can’t Get Enough of Right Now

If you’re anything like me, you need to feed your brain with things that are intellectually stimulating.

For me, podcasts are a great option for those quiet moments when you’re itching for that stimulation and you’ve exhausted your iTunes playlists for the day! Some can even begin to feel like you’re actually part of an intriguing and intellectually stimulating conversation- Vada approved!

Audiobooks/Audible books are another excellent option. Give me ALL THE BOOKS, in the morning, on lunch and in the evening, even if just bits at a time!

Here’s what I’ve been digging

All of these podcasts are FREE on iTunes or Spotify!

Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard

I can’t love this podcast enough! This is a snort your coffee out, a laugh out loud funny, really interesting podcast. Amazing guests! Almost every single episode has sucked me in!

Dax Shepard

Rise with Rachel Hollis

Rise Together with Rachel + Dave Hollis

Both of these Rachel Hollis podcasts are super easy listens, totally tangible advice, relatable and the episodes aren’t too long! Her podcasts are encouraging and touch on life skills for those with a thirst to get sh*t done, and live that life off the couch (at least sometimes) all while keeping your integrity in check.

The Mother Crushers

These girls get me. Listening to Kori and C.A. is like having a cup of coffee and laughs with some of your closest girlfriends. Getting honest & having talks you didn’t know you needed to have and laughing all the while.

Awesome with Alison… and Eric too!!!

I can’t get enough of her and her husband’s delightfully goofy banter! The podcast is super duper informative and has really been beneficial! I also dig that they play Eric’s original music at the end of every single episode I’ve listened to so far!

Snarf Talk with Chris & Jerry

Chris & Jerry love all things comics, Batman, Star Wars and Avengers and… did I already say, Batman? No, but honestly it’s really got some great listens for everyone- really! If you’re not into comics but are interested, episode no. 4 is a great start! They also talk about your favorite movies, books and all that kind of stuff… they’ve even occasionally sung a tune or two and have had me laughing!

Books & Audiobooks

Odd(ly) Enough: Standing Out When the World Begs You To Fit In by C.A. Miljavic

This book has moved me to tears on more than one occasion. It’s one of those books that is relatable as a human being but also as a mother, daughter, friend. It will make you giggle, snort, tear up and feel all those feelings you forgot existed. She hits the nail on the head with this book and I can’t wait for her next one! Also, in case you’re living under a rock, she’s part of The Mother Crushers podcast mentioned above!

In the Company of Women: Inspiration and Advice from over 100 Makers, Artists, and Entrepreneursby Grace Bonney

This book was a gift and I can’t wait to crack it open. It’s one of those books I’d love to browse in a book shop with a cup of coffee and think about buying. It’s a great gift item for sure… and now I get to own it!

Frida: A Biography of Frida Kahlo by Hayden Herrera

This book is gigantic and I’ll probably take forever to finish it but she’s such an interesting person so I’m sure to actually finish it.

Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between) by Lauren Graham

I listened to this on Audible but I’m dying to get my hands on a hard copy- I hear there are some pretty great pictures included in this book!

You Are a Badass®: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero

I’m relistening to this on audible right now. It’s that good! This book is refreshingly honest and is sure to get you reprioritizing some things!

Be sure to let me know in the comments below what books and podcasts that YOU are into right now- I always love getting new ideas and hearing about what cool stuff other people are excited about!

  1. I just finished listening to Yes Please! by Amy Poehler and am now listening to A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. In print I’m reading romance novels. I tried listening to one once and it was so awkward. Ha! I’m also reading the chic-lit novel The Kiss Quotient and just finished Turtles All The Way Down.

I don’t listen to many or any podcasts. I probably should. But I am into YouTube cooking channels: Sam the Cooking Guy, Guga Foods and Bon Appetit. Plus the occasional Tasty video. I don’t have time to cook, so I do it vicariously through them.

    1. Hi Katy- thank you so much for taking the time to read my post and commenting.

I’ll definitely be checking out Amy Poehler’s book- that’s an excellent suggestion for me! I don’t think I could do an audiobook on a romance novel either hahaha! Also I too cook vicariously through cooking videos. They’re almost addictive!
